The O|2 Lab Building in Amsterdam, designed by EGM architects, has been nominated for an international MIPIM Award, in the category Best Healthcare Development. The award honors the most outstanding and accomplished projects around the world. EGM architects is the only Dutch architect nominated for this prestigious real estate award this year. The awards ceremony will take place on March 15th at MIPIM in Cannes.
‘Collaboration’ and ‘sharing knowledge’ are the main objectives of the O|2 Laboratory and Research Building in Amsterdam. The remarkable multi-functional building is the first university building in the Netherlands designed especially for multi-institutional medical research. The building is an important link between the renewed campus of the VU Amsterdam and the VU Medical Center.
The high-quality research facilities of the O|2 Lab building are used by students and researchers from both VU and VUmc, working together on groundbreaking research. Their sharing of the building freed up resources for state-of-the-art facilities which they could not afford on their own. The high level of flexibility in the design and detailing makes the building adaptable and future-proof. EGM architects collaborated with Fokkema & Partners Architecten on the interior design.
The MIPIM Awards will be presented on March 15th at world's leading property market MIPIM in Cannes, France. Other nominees in the various categories include Foster + Partners, Jean-Paul Viguier architecture, Herzog & de Meuron, Ateliers Jean Nouvel and Zaha Hadid Architects.
