OLVG and EGM architects have today signed the framework agreement for the new construction of OLVG West: a significant step in the development of the city hospital. The new building, which will be constructed in phases, is part of the development of Zorgkwartier West, a new concept for the location in Amsterdam West.
The new construction of OLVG West is being realised in collaboration with ptg advies and RHDHV. In 'Collaborative Design Weeks', all end users are intensively involved in the architectural design of the various buildings.
The first phase of the new construction focuses on the 'hotfloor' functions, such as the Emergency Department, Acute Cardiology Unit, Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories, Operating Theatres, and Intensive Care Units.
The signing of the Framework Agreement confirms the years of successful collaboration between EGM architects and OLVG. EGM architects are pleased to contribute 'with care and courage' to a better life in a healthier, more colourful Amsterdam.
The new construction of OLVG West will make the location a future-proof healthcare facility with flexible spaces, shared facilities, and smart technologies. This enables OLVG to provide the most appropriate care, at home if possible and in the hospital if necessary.
Sustainability is one of the essential starting points for the new construction of OLVG West. The buildings are designed and constructed with a focus on a minimal ecological footprint.
