EGM designs new hotfloor for MMC

Design for new hot floor marks start of a sweeping transformation for Maxima Medical Centre

After a detailed selection process involving three architecture firms specializing in health care, EGM Architects was selected by the Maxima Medical Centre (MMC) to design a new hot floor with six operating and two hybrid operating theatres.

EGM boasts extensive knowledge of hot floors. It has recently completed operating theatre complexes in the Reinier de Graaf Hospital, the Groene Hart Hospital, the Beatrix Hospital and the Radboud UMC. Projects currently on site include operating theatre complexes at the Erasmus MC and Hospital Nobo Otrobanda in Curaçao.

Book on operating theatres

EGM Architects recently compiled all its knowledge in the field of operating theatres into a publication. This reference work offers a treasure of information for anybody about to take on a complicated design such as an operating theatre.

EVI programme

The Maxima Medical Centres in Veldhoven and Eindhoven form a twin entity. The former Diaconessen Hospital in Eindhoven has just been fully renovated, and now it is the turn of Veldhoven. That hospital was completed in 1987 and based on a programme to reduce running costs in the health care sector (EVI programme).

Now, over 25 years old, the hospital in Veldhoven is due a major overhaul. The design for the new hot floor marks the start of a sweeping transformation. The first building phase is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2016. A fantastic challenge for EGM architects.
