Commissioned by KAAN Architecten, Powered by EGM is involved as a BIM coordinator and BIM manager in leading projects, such as the renovation and extension of the Paleis Het Loo museum and the new Amsterdam District Court.
Powered by EGM supported KAAN Architecten in the development of the new Amsterdam District Court. Powered by EGM also served as BIM partner for the extension, renovation and new construction of the TNO testing facilities in Ypenburg and for the new Supreme Court of the Netherlands in The Hague—the first project in the Netherlands to comply with the RVB BIM Standard.
BIM partner for the new Amsterdam District Court
The Central Government Real Estate Agency selected the New Amsterdam Court House consortium to realize the new Amsterdam District Court on Parnassusweg. The commission covered the design, construction, financing and operation of the building for a period of thirty years. The new courthouse in the Zuidas district has now been completed. As BIM partner, Powered by EGM was part of the project team and provided BIM coordination for the project.
The collaboration between KAAN Architecten and EGM is insightful and productive, we reached a successful teamwork and organic synergy throughout the architectural design process
BIM management and coordination for Paleis Het Loo museum
The renovation of the Paleis Het Loo museum in Apeldoorn involved the replacement of technical and climate installations and asbestos remediation. At the same time as this major maintenance work, the museum was expanded underground. KAAN Architecten commissioned Powered by EGM for both BIM management and BIM coordination.
Bringing together a wide range of disciplines
Effective BIM starts with a thorough understanding of all the requirements involved. This is no simple task, as BIM brings together a wide range of disciplines, from architecture and structural engineering to building services engineering. Our many years of experience with BIM have given us in-depth knowledge of each discipline. We apply this valuable expertise to all of KAAN Architecten’s leading projects.
BIM manager as the driving force during the design and engineering phases
Powered by EGM’s BIM manager is the driving force during the design and engineering phases. After jointly establishing the BIM Execution Plan with the client, the BIM manager ensures that the model is properly developed from the outset and meets all requirements. The BIM manager acts as the project director, overseeing the entire process from a helicopter perspective and ensuring that it runs as efficiently as possible. The manager coordinates the BIM coordinators from the various disciplines, conducts random checks to verify compliance with the BIM Execution Plan, and, as an independent advisor, ensures the development of an integrated, well-functioning BIM.
BIM coordinator safeguards the model
The BIM coordinator is responsible for monitoring the model within their own discipline. This includes conducting interim model checks, including periodic clash detection, and coordinating with the coordinators of the other disciplines. Other responsibilities include participating in BIM coordination sessions, providing backup within their own discipline, and supporting the validation of the Schedule of Requirements (SoR). From our client’s perspective, this approach ensures effective and reliable collaboration.
