BIM collaboration with Ballast Nedam

‘At Powered by EGM, we see enthusiasm and commitment’

Joris van Woudenberg – BIM Specialist, Ballast Nedam Building and Development, Special Projects – on the collaboration with Powered by EGM and the importance of BIM as a central object-oriented information and communication platform.

Ballast Nedam Building and Development, Special Projects has been working with EGM on various projects for several years. In recent years, we have developed a strong collaboration in the field of BIM. You could say that we complement and inspire each other in this area. The projects we realize together are primarily hospitals and correctional facilities. We are currently working together on the new-build projects Zaanstad Judicial Complex and Curaçao Medical Center (CMC).

The construction industry is currently in the midst of a transition. Innovation and sustainability are on everyone’s agenda. BIM is currently one of the major structural changes resulting from developments within the construction process that interact with and reinforce one another.

Ballast Nedam’s vision is that BIM will become the central object-oriented information and communication platform within our projects. The implementation of BIM supports our processes and project management, resulting in greater efficiency, reduced costs arising from errors and omissions, and optimized processes.

At EGM we see enthusiasm and commitment. We also see an entrepreneurial spirit and adaptability. They are always looking for the best solution together

We have seen EGM make significant progress in developing architectural 3D models containing the information required at each project phase. In short, we now understand from one another what information we need to be able to generate from the 3D model, when we need it and in what format.

EGM understands the shared importance of a high-quality 3D model in which data is structured consistently. Together, we strive for this level of quality so that we can actually achieve our objectives: integrated design coordination, validation and verification, fit-up checks and clash detection, quantity take-offs, links with project planning, and facility management and maintenance.
