Unlike a traditional primary school setup, where class rooms are located along a corridor, this design placesthe class rooms around a collectiveatrium. The primary school on the Müllerpier is located on the first two floors of the Witte de With building in Rotterdam. It consists of nine classrooms and a play area.
The inner area, which is surrounded by class rooms, functions as an atrium. In order to allow daylight to enter into the heart of the building, the walls are fully transparent. A semicircular polyester element is posted as a forum in the atrium, which is specially designed for group-oriented activities.
