DHA at Beijing Design Week 2012

Growing importance of Dutch design in China 's health care is being confirmed by joint venture of EGM architects and Gortemaker Algra Feenstra

The 2012 edition of Beijing Design Week includes some 24 top design firms from The Netherlands, From 28 September to 6 October, numerous exhibitions, public lectures, corporate presentations and debates will be held across Beijing under the name of NL@BJDW, confirming the growing importance of Dutch design in China. Amongst the exhibitors and designers is Dutch Health Architects.

Dutch Health Architects is a joint venture of two leading Dutch architectural firms, de Jong Gortemaker Algra architects and engineers and EGM architects, both specialized in healthcare architecture. In May of this year Dutch Health Architects and Royal HaskoningDHV signed the contract for a cancer center for the Honliv Hospital in China Dutch Design on the Move is a travelling pop-up exhibition that shows what Dutch creative experts can bring to the booming Chinese market. It showcases highly innovative works of Dutch (fashion) designers and architects, exploring the multidisciplinary process and thinking behind it. The exhibition features work of several leading design companies, a mini “Dutch Profiles” documentary screening and a collection of Dutch design books in the Book Lounge. For Dutch Design on the Move, Beijing is the first stop on it’s tour of China before travelling to other major metropolitan centres such as Shanghai, Hong Kong and Guangzhou later this year.

Components

Five Spices DDOTM consists of 3 major components. First of all a thematic exibition; the content will be tailored to the specific context of each event. For example, if there is a brand development fair in Tianjin, DDOTM will showcase Dutch branding experts. Other themes include mobility, social design, sustainable design or public space design.

Second of all, the DutchDFA partners (including BNO, NAI, Premsela & Capital D) will organise specific side programmes related to the theme of DDOTM on each location. The side programme can include lectures, presentations, excursions and workshops.

The Netherlands Embassy, consulates, Netherlands Business Support Network and Chinese coorganisers can provide basic matchmaking support. The locally based partners Dutch Design Desk South China and Dutch Design Workspace Shanghai will be able to provide additional business matchmaking specifically catered to your needs.
